Do you have a good retirement plan?

Many people are gripped by the drudgery that their daily work entails. You may hear a loud sigh every Monday once individual employees have to get back to work at 7:00 AM. They revel in every opportunity there is to walk away from work — like holidays, vacations, and various excuses for work.

These people long for the day when they permanently hang up their coats and kiss and bid farewell to their work day. And when their retirement comes long after, they sit on the couch early Monday morning basking in the indisputable fact that they don't have a problem dealing with work hours anymore, they look out the window and ask themselves:

"What now?

A good plan may be essential if you are going to enjoy the times after your retirement. Usually, individuals do not plan their retirement. They are watching it live. In every aspect of life, planning is important. Likely, you will simply end up flat and depressed if you are not able to think about what to do with your golden years.

No Interests?

Some avidly look back on their retirement because it provides them with an opportunity to pursue their interests. If this is often the case for you, you should arrange ahead to make the most of your retirement days.

Try to learn to draw. Write a book.  Join a jogging group. Some brilliant artists and writers took up their pen only at an advanced age.

If you think you'd be too old to learn something like this, think again. Many people pursued meaningful hobbies in their advanced years. Some of them were distinguished in those hobbies. It's never too late to learn something new. If you've heard the saying "old dogs can't learn new tricks," don't let it apply to you.

Learning Shutdown

Some adults have developed a way of thinking that has effectively destroyed their learning ability. As long as the individual is alive, he can learn. Some individuals do not adhere to current thinking. Except for the person who is constantly improving and enjoying life, or must continue to learn.

Learning something new adds to one's sense of accomplishment. It provides the person with a desire to pursue and a hobby to enjoy.

If you have considered such an activity not worth planning, think again. Even visiting friends and grandchildren can cost you a fortune.

At an advanced age, you may not be ready to do everything anymore. However, there is a huge variety of hobbies and interests. Set your limits in line with your abilities and participate in them. Be mindful of your body. But keep in mind that although your body may be weakened, your mind may remain sharp forever.
