Time Saver

As a business owner, I'm sure you recognize the value of using your time wisely. When it comes to managing a project, time is like money. Your work, time, and resources should be directed toward increasing income on a balanced schedule. Your time should be divided into the following areas: planning,  breaks, celebrations, and reflection.

The following list of time savers addresses each of these areas. These ideas are designed to inspire you to save time by balancing the use of your time.

1- Write down your to-do list

Remember not to include more than five items. You can remove or add items at any time, as your schedule allows.

The purpose of this time saver is to set a specific focus for your workday.

2- Choose the project with the highest priority

Make a list of all actions required to complete this project. Pick an action, complete it, and continue on your list. The purpose of this time saver is to keep your workday focused.

Use a timer or other device so you can focus on completing your project. Remember that you can also listen to a podcast, radio, or TV program. Choose the device that no distracts you the least. The purpose of this time-saving is so that you can continue to focus on completing your actions. Use your calendar to plan the time for each project (action by action), as well as your work breaks and other regular appointments.

You must have the necessary time to finish your project. The calendar is used to clarify priorities, control long-term planning and increase productivity.

3- Find a colleague

Call this person before, during, and after completing part or all of the project. Share your process and your success.

Small business owners benefit greatly from interacting with each other. It is useful for socializing, solving problems, and celebrating. The purpose of this time-saving is to meet your support needs.

4- Reward yourself for what you have achieved

I added stickers to my to-do list.

I ate snacks, made a quick phone call, or emailed. I also looked out my living room window to rest my eyes and enjoy the view. This time-saving is intended to encourage you to take an interest in your needs.

5- Schedule breaks between tasks

Be sure to finish your project.

Break your project into a series of actions. Schedule your breaks after completing at least two actions. Working without breaks encourages low productivity and increases errors. The purpose of this time saver is to encourage individual renewal and balance.

6- Finally, keep a notepad nearby

Remember to record the following:

 1) Actions you would rather take than work on your project.

 2) Memories, random thoughts, or anything unrelated to your current project.

 3) Any interruption.

 4) Any other distraction. The purpose of recording this information is to look for hidden time wasters.

You can use this information to increase your productivity and reduce errors on future projects. Remember that implementing some or all of these time savings will increase your efficiency. Choose and implement one for a month. Track your results and see what improvements occur.
