How to find a successful business name
what's a business name ?
Think of your company name as the outside mask of your company. If it's something your target audience likes, I'd consider trying it out. In most cases, if you don't do this, you'll have lost a customer before you can even tell them what your product or service is. Your marketing campaign is usually like a nice outer shell for your company that tries to portray you as the best company in the world for a variety of reasons, and the quality of your company name can have a huge positive or negative impact on your marketing campaign. Many marketing campaigns are based solely on trade names.Despite the fact that many people are totally unaware of the time they spend choosing a good company name. This happens very often when someone thinks they have a successful business idea and want to get it to market as soon as possible.
Brainstorming Your
Name Here are some techniques to help you brainstorm ideal business names and find a variety of options to choose from.
Tools Needed:
Before you begin the following techniques, here are some tools you will need to make your brainstorming session a success.
A notepad and pen
A thesaurus (online or offline) Online: Online saves a lot of time
A computer with internet access
online language converter tool)
procedures:
Before you start brainstorming, remember that You're looking for ideas and the goal is to make as big a list as possible, so don't. Don't test or criticize an idea and keep the flow going.
Make a list of all the keywords you can think of that relate to your business or describe your product or service.
Think of companies that sell similar products or your competitors and write their names down.
Use a thesaurus to find synonyms for all the words you have collected. You should already have a good list of words.
Use a language conversion tool like translation.com and look up French, Spanish, Italian, German, Latin, etc.meaning of your words. Some of these words can be very trendy and are particularly useful for businesses targeting the youth market or those in the hospitality and entertainment industries.
Form partial word combinations. You can even try combinations of English and other languages. Although these would only be suitable for certain types of creative businesses.
Questions on Choosing Your Choice
You now have a huge list of potential business names. But you can only have one (unless you plan on opening different businesses for the same business), so it's time to trim and shorten your list. At this stage, your goal should be to narrow your list down to 10 names. Match each of your company names to this checklist and start weeding out the unsuitable ones.
Is the name easy to remember and pronounce?
Is it easy to spell?
Will it be attractive to your target audience?
Does it tell you something about what your company does?
What are the first thoughts you want your readers to have when they hear your company name?
Is it something unique?
Already in use?
Is there anything in it that you would like the listener to learn about the concept behind the name?
Is it a geographic name? (This may affect future expansions)
Is it broad enough that if you decide to expand your product line in the future, will the name still represent it?
By now you should have removed many names and reduced your list to 10 names or fewer, if you haven't gone through the list again and removed a few more names.
Test your business name on the field
Now you have the top ten names that you think best represent your business. It's time to find out what others think of you.
Take the list to your family, relatives and friends and ask them to choose their top three.
Try to reach your target market to see which ones they like. If you are planning to open a gym, ask the people who go to the gym regularly.
A great way to reach your target audience en masse and at no cost can be through online message boards and forums. Today, there are online forums on just about every topic.
Pick the Winner
Now that you have everyone's opinion and your decision time in mind. Your course of action from here depends on the type of results you got from your ten check. If you see a clear winner or people like two specific words, you can certainly pick one.If you see three or four words have a similar preference, make a list of the top three and test again using the steps above. Hopefully this should give you a winner, if you still find a liking for something similar you can do
two things, start from scratch (I wouldn't) or go with your heart and pick what you think is best.
Remember: the name is the first step of the game, and while you're picking one, you don't want to be lame.
